Essiac Tea

Our heartfelt tribute to one of history’s heroic nurses, the late but not forgotten, nurse Rene Caisse RN. For more than 50 years, until her death in 1978 at the cheerful and ripe old age of 90, she treated thousands of cancer patients, most of them written off by doctors as terminally ill, with a secret herbal recipe handed down by a 0jibwa herbalist. Unable to pronounce the native name for her acquired mixture, which consisted of four indigenous plants, nurse Caisse cleverly decided to call it Essiac, her name spelled backwards.

So startling was the effectiveness of this simple herbal remedy that it could not be ignored, and the Canadian Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Parliament became involved. Friends, former patients, and grateful families petitioned Canadian officialdom for Rene Caisse’s right to administer the remedy to anyone who asked for it without the threat of interference from the authorities. Fifty five thousand signatures were collected on the petition. In 1938, Essiac came within three votes of being legalized by the Ontario government as a natural remedy for terminal cancer patients.

We have acquired our noble colleague’s original recipe for Essiac.

NFSA has created a scientific medical model to finally study the true and unbiased effects of these indigenous Native American plants found in nurse Caisse’s Essiac. We are looking for participating members, who may be suffering from cancer and other debilitating diseases, to help our effort to collect and publish data to aid in determining patterns of efficacy–in Nurse, Rene Caisse RN herbal tea formula.
