AUTISM
Autism is on a very critical rise all over the world, and here in the United States it affects about 1 out of 88 children. Many researchers have and are exploring many prospects to come up with a cause for autism and how to treat it. Current research is looking into autism as being a "Whole Body" disease and not just a brain disorder. Many children on the autism spectrum have diverse GI problems and also show unbalanced enzyme function, which leads to poor nutrient absorptions and digestion. Due to sensory issues, food and good nutrition is a concern for children on the spectrum, which places these children at an increase nutritional disadvantage. Research also shows that their biochemistry is usually atypical which places them at risk of not being able to absorb adequate level of vitamins and minerals, to keep their bodies in balance.
Here at our center a trained autism specialist, Jackie Peebles MA.Edu, will be offering consultations with families who want a more natural biomedical approach to working with supplements that will address their child's specific health and nutrient problems. Each child will have their health profile entered into a database to follow the progress and make the necessary additions or changes to help these children on the autism spectrum achieve a healthier body.
The specialist will have available other natural products like weighted vests with the weights being filled with natural herbs that can help calm the child while supplying the appropriate weights in the vest to address the individuals sensory needs. Our trained nurses will be an active part in making sure that the health issues and supplement usage is monitored to help the families' comfort of knowing that their child is receiving a safe approach to addressing the needs of their child.

Sensory Integration through “Weighted Vests” and Nature’s Herbs
The use of the weighted vest is based on the Sensory Integration therapy technique of using deep pressure. The child with autism needs to learn how to self-calm and relax. Deep pressure is often used to assist so that sensory stimulus can be processed. The use of a weighted vest provides the child with unconscious information from the joints and muscles.
Our weighted vests use natural herbs in the weights that are known to have a natural calming effect on a person. Our weighted products provide the sensory integration that the child needs to calm and self-regulate, plus the herbs are another benefit to helping bring on the peace, by initiating a powerful soothing sensory mechanism that these children's bodies are searching for…scent.
